I told my family I’m not telling nobody I’m in labor until my baby gets here .. I just want it to be just me and the father this time. With my last 3 it was always my mama(ALL 3), and my husband, & his mama (just with our daughter) and my aunt(just with our first) but I just want this to just be us since we never had that experience yet ... my sister text me talking about she wants to be there, i said yeah after I have him just don’t want nobody in the room this time! I got told I was wrong Smh !

Nope, not wrong. You’re the one giving birth, not them. I wouldn’t even bother arguing with the family. Not worth it. Unless they’re with you 24/7, it’s not like they’ll know when it actually happens unless you or your husband tell them. Just be like “Oops, sorry, I had a giant melon coming out of my vagina. I wasn’t really thinking about anything else EXCEPT FOR HOW PAINFUL IT WAS.”

You're not wrong. We arent telling anyone when I go into labor, because they will try to come sit at the hospital. We will call them after baby has arrived to avoid any surprise visits, overload of phone calls, etc.

This is my first and we're doing the same thing. Apart of me wants my mom and grandma there (my grandparents basically raised me) but at the same time I want to be just me and my husband. My mom and grandma want to come up and help after the baby is born (we live 8hrs away). I guess we shall see when the time comes.

Nope! I had everyone there with my first bc I was scared. (Moms, aunts, grandpas!) but with my son, last year, it was just him and I. My mom was mad but oh well. This time she’ll babysit my other 2. So that made it easier this time around when the time comes.

Just tell them you’re not “April the giraffe” and the birth of your baby is not a show. It’s private, and an intimate moment between you and your significant other. They weren’t there when you made the baby, and they surely don’t need to be there when the baby arrives. We don’t plan on telling anyone either. Plus I don’t even want visitors at the hospital. People can wait till I’m in the comfort of my home. Not in a diaper sitting in a hospital bed, exhausted.

Definitely not wrong! I’m telling our immediate family that I’m in labor but it will only be my husband in the room. Then we are still doing the 2 hours after I have her so we will still have alone time.
