Need to vent

Soo my mother in law has a heart condition. And she’s had three surgeries this last year. I love her to death and we get a long great. Seriously. We have no problems. But because her heart has gotten worse her doctor isn’t allowing her to work. No biggie. She’s moved in with us along with her son. I’ve already set the rule since day one: my mother in law will NOT strain herself. I don’t want her stressing out. She can’t do much so I would never expect her to clean. It’s divided between my sister, her son, me and my husband. (Big chores sweeping/mopping and dishes are handled between the kids.) Because she has no money she’s applied for Medicaid and food stamps. Which I understand I really do. My husband and I aren’t well off but we don’t cheat ourself with certain things. I tried to be a savvy shopper but she’s taught me a few things. Little things: brand of eggs, milk canned veggies really aren’t a big deal. But butter, bread I have a specific kind. We went shopping for thanksgiving and I bought most of the stuff because she’s already used her fs l. Well today she went to a food bank and got TWO more turkeys. Along with food that I KNOW we won’t use. 🤦🏻‍♀️ and bread that’s just going to get moldy. Why does she do this.

Edit. We’re not controlling. My mother in law loves my cooking. She enjoys all the food I’ve made. We actually go shopping together so we can all pick up things we all need. She is experiencing anxiety from working all her life to stoping immediately which were all helping her cope. BUT the food drive is actually something she does every year ONLY on holidays. It’s not something she continuously would go out and do, if that was the case I wouldn’t have a problem. But she only goes there on thanksgiving and Christmas. For the turkeys. And once in a while she’s cooked herself. The problem is. She, herself also, knows now we have 20 cans of peas in our pantry and bread that no one in the house will eat. I have no issues going to donate. The vent is: why go if you know ur not going to eat the food. Save it for sometime else who really needs it.
