We planned with my boyfriend on spending thanksgiving with his family today. Tell me why a while ago he calls me & tells me that his mom is asking for everybody to give $75 each for the food. That means that his parents $75, his sister with 3 kids & a husband $75, his brother with his gf $75, his other brother on his own $75 & my boyfriend & I $75 when I don’t even eat at all due to my anxiety. I got so upset because it’s too much money for “the food”. That’s the amount of money you waste to have a party. I’m honestly so upset that I don’t even wanna go...

Asking someone to bring a dish to pass is one thing, but plain out asking for money is another. That doesn’t even even itself out. Five people coming out to $15/each, two people coming out to $37.5 per person and one paying $75 just for themselves. That better be some top of the line gourmet meal, especially for his brother to be putting forth $75 just for himself.

I would be pissed. There's no way I would bring $75 for a Thanksgiving. You throw a party to be THANKFUL and surround yourself with loved ones. Don't be greedy. If you can't bring a dish to the dinner then you shouldn't be punished. And you shouldn't have to pay to attend.
