Baby refusing to eat! Suggestions?

We have a 8mth old baby. He is very smiley, all energy. But he don't want to eat (be it expressed breast milk, baby formula, boiled and/or mashed veg, fruit, yogurt, egg etc).

We tried showing him he like the food(eating in front of him), making him taste the food after lot of persuasion or a bit of force sometimes.

Almost 80% of his milk is when he is asleep.

Do other babies do that?

How do you handle the situation?

What alternative food I can try?

Is there a different process I can try?
