When you use the restroom do you flush the toilet paper down the toilet or throw it in the trash can?

I was having a “debate” about this earlier today.

Flush. I’ve only heard of people having to use trash cans for tissue if they’re like somewhere with bad sewage pipes or something, I couldn’t imagine having to do that. 🤢

In the U.S., it would be culturally unacceptable to do anything but flush the toilet paper. That’s where I live, so def flushing it.

I seem to have this issue with my roommate 🤬🤦 I go in to the bathroom every day and find toilet paper in the trash 😑 On a side note anyone have any pointers on how to talk to him about this without being rude? My best friend who's related to him through marriage said it's what he might have been taught as a child cuz she was taught the same thing but stopped when she got older. Said his family might have done it in Puerto Rico.

Flush but some less fortunate countries you have to throw it as the pipes can’t take paper as they get so clogged easily or have septic tanks to empty etc.. and just not made properly

I always flush it, but at my holiday in Jordan this summer the asked us to not flush it because the sewerage wasn't made for it there
