I'm starting right around her 2nd birthday. Her daycare won't take kids to the potty until they're in the 2 year class, so I don't see any reason to start at home before then as it'll just confuse her. Also her baby sister will be born when she's 20 months old, and I don't want to overwhelm her with another big adjustment at the same time.

In my family we all potty train at 18 months but my son will be 19-20 months when we start properly potty training because we go away in December and January is going to be spent focusing on decorating. I won't be able to dedicate enough time to potty training until mid-late January so we'll start then.

I am waiting till I see night time readiness, that is, waking up with a dry diaper. I want to be able to ditch the diapers completely without having to wash the sheets a million times, lol. I let her use the potty if she asks, but Im not actively training yet. Ditching the diapers was the ONLY thing that worked with her older sister, and she has only wet the bed a few times, and that was when she was sick and I was pushing fluids. So....let's repeat that success please, lol

We started my son yesterday. He just turned 19 months. Right now its just sitting on it frequently, talking about it, watching mommy and daddy go potty, and putting any diaper poops in the potty to see where they go. I'm planning to go full force after Christmas stuff settles down. My husband is a teacher so he will be home to help that whole week. We have another boy due in April and I would love to have only 1 in diapers. At least during the day. I dont see nighttime training happening soon, he still has to wear a bigger diaper at night or he leaks through. But he started showing some signs so I figured we would ease into it now.

I started a week after she turned 1. She took her diaper off and peed on the bathroom floor so I took that as a sign lol. She’s been in only panties during the day (still wears diapers for sleeping) since 16 and a half months. She’s 19 months now. I’m not quite sure how to get her out of the diapers at night though it’s like she saves her pee until she sleeps even when stopping her from drinking 2 hours before 🤷🏽‍♀️.

My girl is working towards potty independence, we did elimination communication. You could start with skills like dressing and pulling up a pull up. She sits on the potty with her pants on, bless her heart.

I know some babies that already are trained at 18 months, but there is no sense in rushing or putting pressure on yourself. Don't fixate on an age, rather wait until they are ready. I have a little one coming in February, and wanted my daughter trained by then. Unfortunately, she has other plans. So be it.

I'm following my son's queues. He's definitely not ready at this point and I disagree with methods like forcing a child to sit on the potty until they do something. We have a potty next to the toilet and I always point to it and say what it's for. I can see that he's getting there. A couple of months ago he started telling me whenever he pooped. Now he actually announces it before he starts pressing. He's also very interested in knowing whether I pooped (follows me every time I go to the toilet and wants to check before I flush 😅). He's my firstborn, so I don't have experience, but I have a feeling it'll come naturally.
