Blood draw to see how far along?

This is my fifth pregnancy (two living children with two miscarriages this year) and they didn’t even ask my LMP and just asked me to go for a blood draw to see how far along I am. This seems really odd to me, has anyone had this? Hcg can vary significantly and I feel like this isn’t an accurate way to “see how far I am”.

I have two living children and one miscarriage. I’ve had two different doctors (we moved 3 hours away from the first) anyway, when I called with my second they just asked when my last period was, and then scheduled an appointment for like 8-10 week mark. I had a miscarriage in March, but when I called for that apt they just asked the same questions and scheduled me. (Ended up having a miscarriage before my apt tho). Anyway, so this time I called and instead of scheduling an apt they had me get blood work and said they’d call me back once they had the results. I thought this was so strange as well!! Maybe they’re being cautious because of the miscarriage? I just thought maybe their protocol changed, and assuming we don’t go to the same office, it doesn’t seem like that’s the case. I’m waiting on my call back today, and it’s KILLING me having to wait. I don’t feel like I did with my miscarriage so I’m hoping that’s a good sign!

It’s would be a good guideline if where your at. They will probable have you come back in 48/72 hrs and have them checked again to make sure they are doubling.  I had mine done last week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and again yesterday. And they are doubling and falling in the weeks they should be.   
I am 5 weeks and 2 days.  My last HCG levels were 1,744.

That’s bizarre. I’ve never heard of that. My provider doesn’t even do blood tests.
