Did your mom have a career; did it effect you wanting to have one?

I never had a mom but I’m just curious if your mom had a career did it make you want to pursue one? Maybe didn’t effect you at all. 
Nothing serious with this question. Just curious if you want to answer.

My mum didn’t work whilst bringing me and my brother up. It made me want to work as she was dependent on my dad giving her money if she wanted anything and I didn’t want to be dependent on a man

My mom's a workaholic, she easily works 12 hours a day even during weekends. Made me realize that I don't want to focus on a career that intensively. I'd like to have a career but also focus on family and life outside of work.

I have a handicapped older sister, so my mother has never had a career due to needing to care for her. She always just worked minimum wage jobs so shes always been proud of me wanting to find a career, but my mom is such a hard worker and wonderful woman I've always been so proud of her.

My mom and dad have both always been working parents (and my mom went back to school to get re-certified as a respiratory therapist when we moved to the US) so strong work ethic was always part of my life growing up. I never once questioned whether I wanted an education, and was just something I knew I wanted to do all my life. I wanted a job when I was in high school but my parents told me to focus on school (which was fine in retrospect) but at the time I felt lazy and like I should’ve had a job.

When I was a kid, my mom would panhandle and still does. I definitely want a stable career. She can't even keep a place to live and blames it on debit cards because they are the reason strangers dont carry cash much anymore to give to her.

My mom worked here and there while I was growing up, and began working full time when I was in high school. Now that my siblings and I are adults she runs a very profitable business. I want to work until I have kids and then I want to stay home like she did for a while.

My mom stayed at home and homeschooled me and my 4 siblings. She put all this work into homeschooling, and in the end it deprived me of real world experiences and relationships. I think that period of my and my mother’s life would’ve been more rewarding if she had had a career when I was a kid.

my mother is a professional photographer. it affected me as a child as i did modelling in between sports and music and got scouted, but not much as an adult. my dad got my into graphic and ux/ui design, and i figured i loved law classes and volunteered in financial education. 
i always wanted a career since all the females in my family have careers so i viewed it as the norm.

My mom stayed at home till my little brother was in 5th grade shes a workaholic and puts her job first sometimes
It made me not want a career after all the times I wanted to talk to her and she shushed me because she was on the phone with a client

Yes. But she could work from home too for some of it. I don't know how it affected me - I wanted a career (not necessarily high powered or anything) just like most people
