Generally how much do weddings cost?

My SO and I want to get married but we're not in a rush. I don't want it to be huge but moderate, I'd be open to having a backyard style wedding. I might even upcycle my great grandmother's wedding dress. I want to just have a general idea of how much we should be prepared to spend. We live in California if that makes any difference.

It just depends on the places of the hall you choose, there are some on a budget and other very fancy, for my friends small wedding, she did civil and the party was at her parents backyard(it’s a big backyard) and they did a lot of the decorations at home and etc.... she spent about 3000 or 4000. And my cousins for her wedding at a hall at a hotel and they catered the food from the hotel and the decorations were amazing! She easily spent over 10,000. It just depends how you want to do it, and how much you want to spend or how much you can afford 🤷🏻‍♀️
