Private fertility advice please (live in UK)

Hi all,

I’ll start with some details and get you al up to scratch. (A bit of a long post so please bare with me here!)

So my husband and I have been ttc for years now, only got pregnant once in that time that resulted in a mc at 7 weeks jan this year.

We’ve waited since feb 2019 to get a fertility appointment but we didn’t get one until Oct 2019.

I have been diagnosed with pcos when I was 17, I’m 27 now and all scans I have show that this is still the same. I hardly get periods, and because of this I very rarely ovulate.

I have struggled to lose weight because of this, but I’ve been told that if I lose 5% of my body weight my body will start to function again with periods etc.

In my fertility appt my dr weighed me and told me my weight wasn’t a problem at all, so not to even factor that in. We just needed to get my periods regular and he also booked me in for a hycosy.

so he prescribed me a tablet that delays & induces a period and to count 21 days from then and have a blood test. All was going well, however on the 21st day I was booked in to get bloods done I went to the clinic (again, I was booked in!!!) and it was shut. I work full time so I can’t get to it in the week days. So that’s out the window. I don’t get periods so I can’t get bloods done once I have another cycle because it never happens.

My follow up appointment was meant to be 3 months however the follow up has been booked in 7 months away as they have no earlier appointments.

Other than my hycosy still being booked in there is no other silver lining right now.

We are looking into going private as we feel if we wait on the nhs and appointments it’s going to take another couple of years we just don’t know where to start?

Please, if anyone has gone down this route before I’d very much appreciate your input of how you went about it, what hospitals, what costs to consider.

Having a family is everything to us and is slipping away. I have no one else I can ask, so any information is helpful.
