Which do you think is safer??

My son is about to be 5 months in a few days and he has been screaming at night but I've been giving him 1.25m the lowest dosage I can give him infant tylenol the past 4 nights at night and that helps him sleep at night, I worry it will affect his liver?? The doc said yes to tylenol but no to orajell??? Any suggestions mommy's and daddy's??

In many places they don’t even sell oragel anymore because of the dangers of throats closing

I thought orajel was recalled...? It can numb the back of babies throats which causes them to stop breathing or choke.

Orajel is not safe whatsoever. Tylenol is perfectly safe. As is motrin. I find motrin to be more effective, but motrin can make them sick to their tummies if given on an empty tummy. My first kid was and is a picky eater, so I only give tylenol. My second is a garbage disposal, so he gets motrin.

With my first I was told never to use orajel by my pediatrician.  It really is dangerous.  Use tylenol.

As long as you follow the correct timing and dosage of tylenol, you should be fine. Especially if you're following the recommendation of a pediatrician

Just use Tylenol I would stay away from Orajel they do make other natural teething gel you can try out to see if it makes him a little more comfortable Good luck .

You can use a natural teething gel but ask the pharmacist first. I use diluted clove oil. Orajel contains lidocaine which can cause arrhythmias and has been proven to increase the risk of SIDS which is why it has been recalled in multiple places.
