Christmas presents/traditions: yay or nay?

I'm so torn! My son is so little it seems logical not to go crazy BUT it's still his first Christmas! I'm having trouble resisting. I'm a minimalist so I never plan to buy him a million things but definitely a few nice, meaningful things each year. So far I've bought two Holztiger wooden animals I plan to collect for him over the years and a few books. We plan to buy books for our him and one or two for ourselves and spend Christmas eve each year reading and playing board games with some fancy chocolate. I love family traditions!
