Elective inductions?

I was considering talking to my doctor about being induced, have any of you guys opted for an elective induction? Ive had weird complications so far and they're already worried about baby getting too big so I figured it wouldn't hurt to bring it up.

Doctors can't legally schedule an elective induction before 39 weeks (in the US) without a medical reason. Also I would play it by ear. Many times people get induced before their body is ready and end up with a c-section because baby or mother or both start having complications. If your body is ready & progressing, meaning cervix thinning and dilating, on their own, then an induction will likely be successful. :)
I have to be induced at 37 due to severe gestational hypertension. My doctor scheduled it as a c-section because she said most likely my body will not be ready but that we can attempt an induction first if I show signs of progression. I'm not for or against. Just wanted to give pros and cons. I wish you the best and a healthy, happy, safe delivery ❤

I have a scheduled induction at 39 weeks. I didn't mind going past my due date but brought it up since I've been induced with my other two. I figured I could plan better and have my husband get his time off scheduled because of his job. I didn't choose 39 weeks that's just when the doctor scheduled it. I had just asked how soon I could schedule it so we could have a date unless of course she decided to come on her own and that's when he scheduled it for.

Wondering the same thing, I’ve had a previous induction before but it’s way harder to get a doctor to approve. But I’ve had a few infections this pregnancy, been to L&D for bleeding, my BP I starting to get borderline hypertension(I was induced for this previously), and I have some weird placental mass that’s growing. I would try to find reasons why it’s better for your babies health and yours to induce earlier(most will not before 39 weeks)

I was induced with my last baby and my God I hope I never have to be induced ever again. It's so much more painful and draining than a natural birth. So I would say if you dont need to be then dont get induced. Best just to wait it out.

I’ve been induced twice. I’m going to choose not to get induced because all the drugs they use to induce labor made me feel SO bad. I was to the point I couldn’t even take care of my new baby very well for a few days. Migraine, severe swelling, severe tearing. It took me months to recover. I tore so bad, but not sure if that will be avoidable whether I get induced or not.
