PSA: Pump Settings!

Whitney

I have two degrees but am apparently a moron when it comes to pumping.

I used a Medela Harmony in the hospital that had a manual setting to switch between the automatic start letdown phase and the main pumping phase. When I got home, I must have read the directions on my Spectra S2 in a sleep deprived haze and assumed it worked identically.

Two months pp, I realize that I don’t know what the numbered settings mean or which phase it automatically begins with. I looked it up, and I’ve been inadvertently using the letdown phase as my primary pumping speed and suction 🤦🏼‍♀️ I studied up and have produced more milk in two pumps than I usually get in four.

Don’t be like me! Read your manuals or google for some articles! Happy pumping! 🥛
