Boyfriend gives cryptic answers and silent treatment

Whenever my boyfriend is mad at me he gives me the silent treatment and tells me to figure it out. When I ask him to tell me why hes upset at me and to convey his feelings he refuses. Whenever he asks why I'm upset I tell him. I dont give him cryptic answers and expect him to figure it out by himself. Is this fair? Currently sleeping alone in the bedroom because he is still upset and sleeping on the couch. He refuses to talk to me until I figure out and apologize for whatever he is mad about.
