Are Christmas weddings rude? *please read description*

Do you think it’s rude to plan a wedding for around Christmas? This year we have a wedding on December 29th (at 6pm, on a Sunday night), and next year we’ve been invited to one on New Years Day. Financially speaking, is it rude to expect your friends and family to shell out money for gift, dress, and possibly hotel accommodations right after Christmas? I know— “then don’t attend!” But I think it’s still a tough situation to put your guests in when they love you and want to attend, but the timing is rough. Thoughts??
