What are the effects of emotional abuse?

Hi guys.  I need help. My sister has a 9 month old daughter. She is in an EXTREMELY emotionally, mentally, and verbally abusive relationship with her daughter's father.
She has left him 2 times before, but always goes back.  Our family has set up so much to help her leave, but she hasn't yet. I'm worried about what it is mentally doing to her and the baby.  Could anyone give me examples of what a toxic relationship between parents could do to a child? I want to compile a list to possibly help her open her eyes to the severity of the situation.
I appreciate any and all help!!

She’s not ready to leave. Just let her know your there got her when she really is ready. I speak from personal experience.

My mom was in an abusive relationship with my father. It was verbal, emotional, and sometimes physical. My mom has had issues in the past with mental health and I fully believe it began after meeting my Dad. It’s only gotten worse and she’s completely delusional now. She has no self-esteem, my Dad would tear her down constantly. She repeats the same things he says about her to herself (e.g. she’s fat, disgusting, below him, etc.) She’s mentioned suicide in the last few years. Just bad stuff.
As for me and my brother, we have no idea what a healthy relationship looks like. My Dad isolated us from friends and relatives so we didn’t have other people to look to. If i hadn’t learned how to avoid abusers, I would have ended up in a relationship just like my mothers. My brother and I both suffer from depression, mine starting when I was very young. I dabbled in drugs to deal with my home environment. Tried to kill myself, the whole nine. Abusive husbands will eventually abuse the kids in some way and that’s what happened to me. I’m prone to anger and violence yet have terrible anxiety. I could write a whole book about how shit my life turned out but PM me if you have questions. 
And PLEASE tell your friend to leave. If not for herself, for her daughter’s sake.

The list is basically endless. From becoming abusive herself, to becoming an addict, developing a mental disorder (any kind of anxiety disorder, eating disorder)... The main problem is though, I'm sure your sister knows. Giving her a list is like giving a smoker a list of possible illnesses he/she could get. Every smoker knows it, but the addiction holds the upper hand. It would probably be a bigger help to have a heart to heart and ask her why she stays and what kind of help she would need to leave and protect her child. If she refuses to take steps, you'll need to think about whether to report it to social services, for the sake of your niece.
