Is it too soon to tell them?

Hi!

My husband and I are away on a vacation and found out the day before we left that I’m 4 weeks pregnant.

The final leg of our trip is visiting my grandparents who I haven’t seen in 6 years (they live internationally) and my husband has never met. I’ve been struggling to figure out how I should avoid drinking wine while we’re there.

My husband and I are the only ones that know I’m pregnant. We decided to take this trip with our little secret and that we’d tell my mom/dad/sister at Christmas when I’m 6 weeks.

My grandparents are 85 and 88 and it’s possible this could be the last visit we have together. Im worried that I’ll come up with an excuse to not drink...and then in a month or two they’ll find out with the rest of the family and be hurt that I knew when I was with them.

Should I just tell my grandparents that I’m very newly pregnant and can’t drink? And ask that they not say anything as no other family members know yet?
