Daytime naps for baby?

Ok I’m a FTM and don’t know where baby should Nap during the day... I’ve scoured the internet and am more confused than before!! I was initially going to use a pack n play for a changing table/napper, etc but realized they are a lot bigger than I expected and we don’t really have a good place to put it in the living room/first floor of the house. Baby has a crib and changing table in the nursery (2nd floor) and a large bedside bassinet in our bedroom.... but I don’t foresee myself going upstairs for every diaper change or to put baby down for a nap the first couple months., and I would rather her be downstairs with me for that time period. 
What is everyone doing/using for naps during the day, in the beginning? Any suggestions or recommendations would be GREAT! Thanks!

Your set up sounds like mine, cot upstairs and bassinet downstairs next to bed. With my first, for the first 6weeks she napped wherever, in arms, carrier, bassinet (has wheels so can move it around). From 6 weeks I began putting her in her cot for day naps with the monitor set up. She’d also nap in pram or car easily which helped. I think I’ll do the same this time around, maybe cot straight away so toddler doesn’t annoy bub 😂

My first napped a lot in the boppy pillow on the couch and in her swing so im planning on doing the same with this one.

For the first little bit she’ll sleep wherever is convenient! Swing in the living room, my arms, sometimes her crib, bassinet on the table. Once we get out of that newborn stage and naps are a bit more predictable and scheduled she’ll go in her crib.

I have a pack n play for our room. Thats where my son will sleep at night then in his Crib for naps but mostly I'm sure he will be in my arms or his carrier.

Our son napped in the swing in our living room during the day for about the first month. They sleep all the time when they are that little and I wanted to be close to him. Honestly though, I spent 80% of that time watching Netflix on the couch with him asleep on my chest. 😂 At around the 1 month mark we put him down for naps in his crib in the nursery to start getting him accustomed to it. But at night he slept in our room in a pack n play until he was 7 months old.

I used the fisher price rock n play bassinet (not the recalled one that’s on an incline. The one that’s a flat bottom actual bassinet but it can rock and fold to be carried or stored easily). That way it could go room to room with me if I was going to do laundry or dishes or just go to the bathroom and wanted to keep an eye on him. I think it was about $65?

So exactly what some of the other moms said, whatever was most convenient. Baby would fall asleep so easily either in somebodies arms, in the basinet, in the car seat, but I did have a baby swing in my living room, a basinet in my room, and sometimes she’d fall asleep on her playmat. Ideally for baby #2 (due january) I’m going to try to have him nap in his crib and keep the monitor with me because my can daughter get loud lol. But the first couple months they are such heavy sleepers they can sleep through anything !

For naps it's more about what's convenient for you. We didn't usually do naps in crib because it was upstairs and instead did pack n play... or floor on a blanket... or bouncer... or whatever was more convenient

As inconvenient as it may be, its recommended to put baby down to nap where he is likely to be sleeping most at nights (either in your room or in his crib, where ever you plan to have him sleep at night). Yes, you can put him down to nap downstairs with you but my midwives and sister who is a NICU nurse and infant sleep consultant all say that keeping consistency helps create better sleep habits earlier on. The first few weeks there is no rule, but it's best to start that habit as soon as possible. The smells, sounds, and lighting being consistent helps them self soothe much quicker.

You can do a bassinet. I’m doing a pack n play because I have the room and his room is on the second floor . I tend to nap when he is sleep depending on the time though . I did the same for my daughter
