Any other moms?

Who else is being pressured to breastfeed their baby? They are making me feel like a bad mom for not sticking to it and mind you my baby is only a week old!

Medical staff should be honest and informative about how important breastmilk is for baby. But they should also be supportive of what you think is best for you and your family.

F em. They don’t aren’t going through whatever you are. I will say the first 6 weeks are definitely the hardest but if it’s not working for you or for baby, we are lucky to live in an age of high quality alternatives. You and baby choose what’s best for you, everyone else can stuff it, unfortunately the unasked first advice just keeps coming the older then get, learning to ignore it or dismiss them politely is something I had to learn early on as well.

Honestly I felt some guilt when I decided to quit breastfeeding because it was such an expectation. I had great supply & she was an awesome nurser but I just wanted to quit. I’m so happy since I did & i do not regret it one bit. She loves her formula

My husband pressured me in the very beginning. He really wanted me to breastfeed because "it's what is best for baby." Once we started supplementing with formula due to my low supply and he saw that our daughter was finally satisfied & was gaining weight he stopped. Breastfeeding just wasn't for me.

They did it to me with my daughter. The first month sucked! I didn’t have milk and nurses and doctors insisted that I should kept trying. Every night my daughter was having meltdowns because she was hungry. After I breastfed her for 5 hours straight that was enough. We supplemented with formula and things turned out great. She’s been sleeping longer and better and everyone is happier.

Just from experience note. My first 2 weeks of breastfeeding were  HELL. Cracked nipples and just lots of OUCH. 
But, i figured out what was going wrong and it got better and was awesome after that. Saved me money and made going anywhere a breeze because I didn't  need to prep anything. 
Someone once compared breadtfeeding to sex, it might be natural but it ain't always great the first few times. But with time it gets a lot better. 
You should not feel pressured one way or the other, you do what you need. If you are interested in breastfeeding though and it's not going at easy at first there are options besides having to just pick breastfeed OR formula. You can do both to give nipples a break and a lactation consultant can be a miracle worked. 
I feel it is too often pushed that you mucst pick one or the other, there are a variety of options if you're struggling. Don't be scared of reaching out to maternal nurse to help you sort out what will work for you and your family. 
Oh and family can just shut their mouths. My MIL spouted so much misinformation about breastfeeding it wasn't  even funny. Stick to a caring medical professional and your partner and let everyone else keep their opinions to themselves.

Mine was actually the opposite my mom and husband kept telling me I was starving my baby for breastfeeding her even though they said she was getting plenty at the hospital so I gave up a week later 😞 biggest mistake I could have made my baby didn’t handle well on format all... but honestly as long as your baby is fed and happy it doesn’t matter
