Lost tooth

So my son just lost a tooth today and put it under his pillow for the tooth fairy to come. Well I went in his room and took 4 attempts at getting his tooth but I couldn’t find it! I moved it to the edge of his pillow so that I could easily grab it without waking him but he moved it right under his head as I was saying good night 🤦‍♀️ so after 4 attempts I gave up, I don’t want to risk waking him and ruin the magic so I just left the money under his pillow. Hopefully he doesn’t notice the tooth is still there but if he does what should I tell him? Maybe something like “oh no! The tooth fairy must have dropped it or the tooth fairy must have forgotten to grab it” 🤷‍♀️
