D/c testing

So I had my d/c today and the doctor told my husband while I was still out that they will send what they removed in for “testing” but he didn’t really ask questions. I was 4.5 weeks so there wasn’t much there yet. Does anyone know what kind of testing they will be doing? I live in the USA on the West coast for reference because I know this may be different in other areas. I want to know if there was something genetically wrong or if I can do something to prevent in the future but I don’t want to know the sex or details like that as I feel it will emotionally hinder me from trying to move forward.
