Is this normal writing for a 5 years old?

He is on the lowest dosage for adhd medication and only takes it on school days. I worry because he brings home this and the teacher always says there’s at least one worksheet he refuses to do. And homework is also a problem where I erase it 20 times because I can tell he doing it sloppy on purpose just to finish faster. Should I tell his doctor to up his dosage or is this normal for a 5 year old?

This is totally normal, and so is rushing through school work just to be done with it. My boys are 8 & 10 and both still rush through things and are sloppy about it. You shouldn't be rushing to the doctor to increase medication just based on some sloppy handwriting.

My husband has severe ADHD and he will purposely half ass things to get it done quicker. 
Even while on 2 ADHD meds he couldn’t find it in himself to apply himself in his work. Most times I’d have to do the work for him in order for him to graduate high school and college. It was annoying and I was an enabler but I’d be damned if he wasn’t gonna graduate because of it. 
I’d bring it up to his doctor just in case.

ADHD aside, he's only 5 lol this is very normal for his age and not at all concerning.

You could tell he didn't try. I teach kindergarten and I expect that from my 4 year olds. By 5 he should be able to print all the letters independently and not be tracing. You can work on strengthening his fine motor skills by getting him to play with modelling clay. It's tougher and harder to work than playdough. Using clothes pins to pick up pom poms is also a great activity for strengthening fine motor skills. The stronger his fine motor skills, the less effort he will feel he needs to put into it. I would be concerned though just definitely keep working on it! Practice makes perfect. 😉
