When you know, you know?

A little backstory- I was with my ex husband for 15 years. We had children and had a life together. The entire relationship was abusive, both emotionally and physically, and most of all verbally. We were together since we were kids, and we literally grew up together. As we grew into adults, we both grew into different, incompatible people, but still it was hard to leave as he was all I knew, but I did it! I ended up in what I thought was a good relationship 4 months later, but 2 months in red flags appeared- possessive, controlling and eventually, abusive. I left that relationship with no hesitation. There wasn’t this emotional tie or overwhelming feeling of “love” holding me back. Fast forward to a month ago. I had taken my time being comfortable being alone and getting to know myself on a deeper level. I told God I would stop looking and let him lead me to my soulmate. Then came a guy on IG that I had been eying, not so much for physical attraction (which I typically lay emphasis on), but for our common careers, interest and values. I typically go after what I want full force, but I sat back and watched what he posted leaving likes here and there. He then posted a picture of his cute son and I simply left a little comment. It took off from there. We talk non stop, we hang out, we go on dates and yes, we’ve done the deed. He’s attractive, don’t get me wrong, but he’s not my typical type. The more I get to know him, the more I fall in love and adore him. The first time we went on a date, it was like we knew each other our whole life. No awkwardness or holding back at all. I’ve never felt this with either 2 of my previous partners; an immediate magnetic attraction and LOVE. It scares the shit out of me as I’m scared I’m falling too easy, too fast. My walls are typically sky high as they were with the last guy I dated, but walls have completely fallen. Does love at first sight really exist? When you know, you know?
