What would you make of this?

So there is this guy, he is my very close cousins friend. I also went to primary school with him so I have known him for ages. Earlier this year he went travelling for a few months, I decided to follow him on Instagram and would start conversations every now and again. He would say things like "it's really nice talking to you" and would send me images/posts and say "saw this and thought of you".

Few weeks later he came back to attend my cousins wedding. He sat next to me and we spoke the entire night. After this we texted more regularly, till it became daily.

I wasn't sure if he even liked me or I was just someone to talk to. He is a really shy guy when it comes to girls, he never talks to them (he and my cousin told me). So I got up the courage to ask if he wanted to hang out or grab coffee sometime and he said "deffinetly why not!". I start thinking maybe he is interested but he never organises to meet up, I start to get inpatient. One day I ask him to go to mini golf and he sends this message out of the blue saying "I'm kinda seeing this chick at the moment and she keeps wanting to meet up. It's nothing serious but I'm keen for this mini golf business". I was taken a back, I'm not the kinda girl that 'casually sees guys' I am a one and only kinda girl.

What do you ladies think? Was I crazy in thinking he liked me? Why was he constantly messaging me? And why is he saying he's seeing this chick but is still keen to hang at mini golf with me!? Men are confusing! Thank you in advance!!
