Advice please

Im supposed to return to work on February as per my conversation with my boss. Before a had the baby she told my i was entitled to 6 months and i told her i was going to be back in 3. But I’m not ready to leave my LO yet.

I was reading that under the FMLA my employer is only requiem to give 12 weeks ( due on February) she always told me she has to hold my position for 6 month( but i don’t want to ask her directly about the 6 month and make her realize about the 12 weeks).

I’m the owner’s assistant and i know she has few projects on hold waiting for my return.

Anyone knows if I extend my maternity leave i can lose position and pay rate? (It’s an small and private company)

Any advice girls how do i tell her im not ready to come back yet.
