If my baby is with there step parent and the father wants to see them can i tell him they’re with the step parent and ask them ?

If my child is out spending time with her step parent and the real father call and ask if they can see them is it wrong or right that the parent tells the biological father that she’s with her step dad and to call and ask him ? 
It’s a meme going around on social media and i just wanted to get answers from people on this app.

No.  I think the mum should organise. How awkward for bio-dad to have to call step-dad.

How would you like it if the roles were swapped? Imagine you calling the father to ask if you could pick up your children and he tells you to call their step mom?....

I guess it depends on when bio dad wants to see the kid. Is he wanting to see the kid while the step parent is responsible for them? If so, ya it should be up to the person responsible for the child in that time if they have the availability to facilitate such a get together.  Is it just a general "hey can I see my kid this week" type deal, ya the mom needs to organize that and work out details with all involved.

Communication is key and that includes stepparents. You could say they are out right now, let me text/call (stepparent) and they can call you and let you know. Last minute and disrupting the child’s day should also be considered too though

I mean it seems logical to just ask them to text/call the person who has the child. Co- parenting is about working as a team. For the father It’s not really about “can I see my baby?” It’s about asking when.

I’m a stepmom and I coordinate things with bio mom instead of my husband because I feel I can have a better grip on the conversation. My husband isn’t the best at communication and it just helps to not have him send things that get misinterpreted. However, I wouldn’t coordinate with her stepfather at her mothers house and I know my husband wouldn’t want to coordinate with the stepfather either. Don’t know him well enough.
