Question for gun owning parents

We have some long guns and some hand guns in the house all secured in a safe. Hubby and I disagree about placement of the gun safe keeping it hidden vs having it in plain sight where the kids can see it. It is a very large 24 gun safe. What do other gun owner parents do to keep firearms safe? Hubby and I are both licensed owners and we are expecting our first baby in June. Thanks for your input, I appreciate your advice. Please keep in mind that we have no desire to completely remove guns from the home, please be constructive in your comments if you have a strong stance against guns. Thank you!
