He is divorcing me but asks to stay friends

I want to know if anyone is still friends with their spouse after divorce. I fleed our house and went back to my parents place after he called me dirty bitch, shit and again dirty bitch in front of my son. But we have a 15 mth old and I am preg with his second child. I know he has wanted to be friends 7 months before our 5 year anniversary. But for the sake of our son and b cos he is a dad he wants to stay friends. I have child protection giving him only 3 x 1.5 hours visit due to bad anger issues and b cos it is always my fault.. should i be friends for the sake of connor and my unborn daughter?...
