Boyfriend ghosted me...

So my ex and I got back together after a long talk about his poor communication skills (we’re LDR and so communication is extra important). A week went by and everything was great... until December 4th. He texted me that day saying his dad almost died and that was the last thing I heard from him. I haven’t heard anything since. I didn’t want to get my hopes up for everything to work out before I saw consistent change so I’m not mad or sad... But I don’t really know what to think? I just don’t know if it’s because he regretted getting back together and his whole situation gave him a justified reason to ghost me like that or if something is really really wrong... I am worried for him but there’s not much I can do.

Edit: I tried contacting him from December 4th all the way to December 24th before I gave up. I didn’t know if I was just being stupid at that point or what. i want to believe it’s because of family issues but I don’t know.
