Is it safe to get a massage while pregnant?

I work for a chiropractor and I am 20 weeks pregnant and would love a massage from one of our massage therapists! She said we can do a side lying gentle massage, what do you guys think? Everyone at work says it’s fine

Yes, absolutely! I had two prenatal massages within my last month of pregnancy and they were the best ever. I needed them by then. If you specifically get a prenatal massage, the person performing the massage will know which areas to avoid. From my understanding, I believe it’s just the lower back and ankles and they avoid them to prevent early labor? I’m not going to lie, I didn’t know that and my husband massaged my lower back a ton throughout my pregnancy. My son didn’t budge down my birth canal even during my induction which resulted in a c-section so... lmao idk. I don’t think it’s that big of a concern but nonetheless, you’ll be in good hands (figuratively and literally) with prenatal massages. :)

You MUST disclose your pregnancy and they will adjust your treatment for your pregnancy. You also need to make sure they will work on a pregnant woman, as some won't, and that they are not only trained, but also certified to do prenatal work.
