Discharge or mucus plug?

First time mom here. 34 weeks today. How can you tell the difference between regular discharge and your mucus plug?

Mucus plug can have some blood in it, and it’s often a lot that comes out together.

I have the same question...I had a lot more clear discharge...mucus like/like cervical fluid only thicker and stickier. I am going to the doctor later. So, I will ask her about it at my appointment.  Keeps coming out when I wipe.

Mucus plug is thick and stringy. If you touch it it's sticky.  It literally looks like you blew your nose. 
Discharge is usually a thinner/milky consistency. 
I only ever saw tiny pieces of my mucus plug with my first, same with this one so far. Lots of people never notice they are losing it or don't until they are actually in L&d.
