Bridesmaids hair/makeup - who pays?

Question

Should the bride pay for the bridesmaids hair and/or makeup or should it be a bridesmaids expense? 
I was originally going to treat my 4 bridesmaids, my mom and future MIL to hair and makeup the day of, but it's crazy expensive! Even just hair for everyone (plus myself) is over $1,500 after gratuity. I've never been a bridesmaid, so I have zero clue what the norm is in terms of who pays for what. Is it rude to have them pay for themselves? 
Note: I dont really care if they have their hair professionally done...they all know how to do their hair beautifully. I just think it's a nice bonding experience day of.

The two weddings I was in I paid for my hair and makeup. I could see if you had a bridesmaid in a bad financial spot to cover her, but I’ve always assumed I’d be paying for my own dress, hair, makeup etc as a bridesmaid.

I did my own makeup and hair for my wedding. Bm as well did their hair and makeup.I bought a hair curler from headkandy  an make-up from Mary Kay .cuz I was not paying someone to do my hair and makeup a thousand bucks I did it for under  100 myself.

I was in 3 weddings, 2 as a bridesmaid and 1 as a maid of honor. I paid for everything for all 3. Which included my dress, shoes, makeup, hair, and nails. So for my wedding I would expect the same. I'll let them choose if they want to get there makeup done or not but I want all our hair to look coordinated and done professionally which I dont think they'll mind! I'm not a crazy bridezilla I told them i don't want them spending a ton of money!

They pay for themselves, unless you're requiring them to have it done professionally. If you're expecting them to get their hair and makeup done by a professional, it'd be pretty shitty to expect them to pay for that professional. And if I were a bridesmaid and the bride required that I spend hundreds of dollars having my hair and makeup done, I'd drop out because I can't afford that and I prefer very little makeup anyways. If they have the option of doing their own, then everybody pays for themselves because they can decide whether or not they can afford it. As a bridesmaid I always expect to pay for my own dress, shoes, hair, makeup, etc. If I can't afford it and the bride isn't understanding, then I can't be a bridesmaid 🤷‍♀️

I’m not much help so far I’ve only been in 1 wedding and it was someone from school who I didn’t talk to but she had no friends so she said if I was wedding her grandma would pay for my dress and her grandma ended up paying for my shoes as well. But her grandma and her family knows I only work less than part time because I’m college for more than full time. So her family got my dress and shoes and her sister did my makeup for free and I kept my hair down. The bride was in the same financial situation as me and was poor so it was a very easy/cheap wedding. 
But as an idea if you want and you find someone (or 2 different p) do hair/makeup you can always split it.  Say you’ll find 1/2 ppl to do it does 2,000$ and you have 5 bridesmaids then take you them 5 (so 6 ppl) and split it evenly. So 2,000$/6= 333$ each so that’s what each person pays. Tbh idk if that is a normal price or what or the $ situation if your friends but it’s an idea.

I had my cousin do my hair. My girls were offered to have her to do it as well for a lower cost. They all declined. Overall their hair was good they made their decision to pay more.

I just read a few days ago that “traditionally” the bride pays for her bridesmaids hair/makeup BUT I’m getting married next month and sure as fuck can’t afford to pay for them lol mine are paying for themselves.

I’m spending a lot of money on photography for my wedding, which is in October. I am having an updo and I wanted all of our hair to be some what coordinating, meaning not some up and some down. My girl is doing 6 of us for 600 and that includes make up, but she’s bringing a make up stylist with her. I really don’t think that’s too high of a price considering she is starting my bridesmaids at 7am. If it was anymore money I’d probably have them pay for at least hair or make up lol
