Baby thrush-bad or can it wait?

Question

I’m pretty sure my 1 week old has thrush. He doesn’t seem to mind, still feeds and everything but his tongue is just so coated in the white patches it makes me worry. I’ve never dealt with this with my first son. Is it something really urgent or can it wait for a visit on Monday when the doctors office opens ?

My little girl gets white patches on her tongue where the milk sticks to it after nursing, but if you already have another kid, you would probably know the difference lol

It's called milk tounge,  my newborn had that, no need to worry. Dont scrub it or anything.

I’d get in right away as it can make baby very sore quickly and stop eating which is a danger at that age.  Have you tried scraping it though?  My baby got a pretty thick milk tongue (high palate so it wasn’t brushing against it to remove it) but it was never thrush.  If you take a soft cloth, like a baby wash cloth, and wipe the tongue, milk tongue will clear up a bit and look normal.  Thrush will either stay or leave behind a sore looking spot.
