I have an eviction from 5 years ago. I’m currently in CA renting a bedroom with my boyfriend and we found out were pregnant a month ago! So I’m almost 3 months atm. However because this eviction I cannot get excepted into anywhere! I got denied 3 times the last month bc this dang eviction and yes I know it’s my fault. My roommate moved out on me and I couldn’t afford the apartment alone. When I got denied my boyfriend automatically did as well. Every time. And no we are not putting him on the lease alone, i will not sneak around. So scary and I don’t know what we’ll do :( sorry if this isn’t allowed. I CAN PAY MORE IF NEEDED.

You have two options. 
1. Swallow your pride, and just put him on the lease. It’s not sneaking around to utilize his better credit score, unless the building specifies the number of tenants allowed. 
2. Find an owner willing to rent for cash. It will cost you more, but if you can come up with three months in cash upfront that’s usually fine in my experience.

This is odd. 
As a leasing consultant we had many residents Who have been evicted before. But this didn’t mean automatic denial. It would be situational, but if it was just one YEARS ago It usually meant a higher deposit and you HAD to have a co signer on your lease with a decent background check. 
It’s crazy that absolutely no where will work with you. Or that you can’t just be put on a lease although it would be your boyfriend as the main signer.

My boyfriend is a felon (from years ago) and it’s very similar situation. He will never be able to rent from somewhere but since i don’t have anything I can get anything. So if we go to an apartment or something like that I just have to lie and say only myself. You gotta do what you gotta do to have somewhere to live. Or go on Craigslist and find a person renting their own house. A lot of people renting homes personally do applications now so if they see the eviction it’s a lot easier to speak with them about it and maybe offer 2 deposits or something like that. The owners will most likely work with you better then any company.

Go under someone private. My best friend rents a 2 bed 1 bath house for 575$ a month. Water included. She found the owner off craigslist 🤷🏽‍♀️

I would first  go to the police station,  run both records,  get a credit report, and proof of funds for both......   attach that with your application.   I would look for by owner type of places over a management  company.

Also try finding a good cheap camper and live in trail parks they normally dont do background checks fyi yes its rough but at least it's a roof over you guys and babies head and many family live in trailers and have happy lifes

Where in CA are you? If you're in the LA area you can DM me and I'll give you a name of the place my friend and I were accepted into. Its ghetto but neither of us had credit and didnt make much and we still got accepted. 
You could also ask anyone close if they would be willing to cosign for you. This is a big request and I would only ever ask my mother since I know she would be able to and happy to, maybe if you have parents that would be willing to do this for you it could be an option. Another possible option would be to go talk to a lawyer and see if its something you can get off your record.

Can you pay more upfront? I’m a private landlord. There are conditions I make for people evicted due to failed payment. That’s one of them. I had remnants a few years ago that paid the length of their lease in full. Another is if you could prove you had a ligitament reason and it’s unlikely to happen again.

How do they know about your eviction? Any time I applied for a rental I just gave references. Never had to list previous addresses. No landlord would have had any way to know about previous rentals, I was only ever evicted via an Ontario N12 notice the landlord intends to take over for personal use. Sorry this isn’t any kind of rebuttal I just want to understand how they know about your eviction.
