How do you know?

How do all if you know how many pounds and in what percentile your babies are measuring? Am I missing out on something that my doctor is skipping? I’m almost 32 weeks and there hasn’t been any mention of baby’s size. They just measure my fundal height at each appointment. Last ultrasound was at 20 weeks and my next isn’t until 36 weeks.

If you have a normal pregnancy with no risk factors (gestational diabetes,etc) and no concerns, they typically only do two ultrasounds -  the first “dating” scan and the anatomy scan! 
So a lot of people don’t find out their baby’s weight estimate/percentile later on in the pregnancy.

They’ll probably talk to you about it your next ultrasound then. I just had my 3D ultrasound at 32 weeks, hadn’t had one since 20 weeks before that. And they went over the weight and all that with me.

My dr hasn't been telling me specifics either. She just says "shes looking perfect, right on time" and I guess that's been fine with me

I only had a scan because my genetic screening showed an increased risk of preeclampsia and I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Otherwise I would not have had any additional ultrasounds. With my last pregnancy I didn't have GD or increased risk of preeclampsia and had a late scan because I was measuring behind in the ultrasound they found my son was transverse lie causing the measurements to be off.

I’m 35 +3 weeks and haven’t had a scan since 20 weeks. My last appointment (34 weeks), I think the dr had finally realized that I have serious anxiety, and reassured me just saying that baby looks like he’s good to be average size, and further clarified that she means 7-8 pounds at birth, as long as I don’t eat too much sugar. She took no measurements other than fundal height and vitals, so I think she may have just been trying to calm my anxiety, but it worked, because I’ve been less anxious about if everything is ok. 
I’m also scheduled for a “bedside” ultrasound at 36 weeks on Tuesday.

same.. they only do ultrasounds to those who are high risk, but i heard some Drs not all do a third trimester ultrasound no matter if your high risk or not. In my case i dont think my clinic does it so im just gonna have to wait till birth to find out.

Only way to estimate babys weight is during an ultrasound. So, if you haven't been getting ultrasounds, then you wouldn't be discussing the weight with your doctor. However, a normal, low risk pregnancy would not require multiple ultrasounds, so it isn't out of the norm that you haven't been getting any.

I wont know until monday at my 36 week appointment when they do an ultrasound. Some docs do ultrasounds sooner in the 3rd trimester (if they do them, not all do)

I was getting additional ultrasounds specifically because she was measuring small, since it was the focus of the appt we always discussed it.
