how soon is too soon

so i broke up with my toxic bf friday (jan31st) and one of my guy best friends told me he liked me the day after (feb1st) and i kinda like him too so i said we could start talking but that i didn’t wanna rush anything since i just got out of a relationship and that i wanted to wait until we told ppl so it didn’t seem like i only broke up w my ex to get w my guy best friend. how long do y’all think i should wait before i start telling ppl?? i don’t want it to be too soon but at the same time i feel like he thinks ik trying to hide the fact that we’re talking which i’m definitely not i just wanna be respectful to my ex yk. someone please comment w any advice you have i just don’t know what to do
