What to expect

Question

I have my first prenatal visit tomorrow. I’m about 12 weeks and 6ish days pregnant. What do I expect? I’ve never been to an OB before.

Answer

They’ll likely have you pee into a cup and use a dip test to check your sugar and proteins. They’ll also do the regular vital checks (blood pressure, pulse ... ). If they haven’t yet, they’ll calculate your due date based on LPM, IVF, or IUI. They also usually do an ultrasound at one of your first visits to measure the baby to better date your pregnancy and if you haven’t had a Pap smear in a while they may do that too. 
Besides that they go over a lot of information with you and answer any questions you might have. A lot of that includes past pregnancies, health/risk factors, changing cat litter (don’t do it), what you should avoid food wise, discuss your symptoms ... etc.
