Is it strange for a four year old to still be in a crib?

Asking for a friend. The child is almost four and sleeps in a crib (not toddler bed) and wears diapers at night.

Unless he has some sort of disability, I do think that it’s strange. Four is a school-aged child who should be gaining independence and learning routines. 
Being tucked in and going to sleep, waking up and using the bathroom, etc.. 🤔

If the child isn’t climbing out its probably just easier and safer for the child. Mine has been in a queen bed since 13 months but to each their own 🤷🏻‍♀️

The crib yes but the 'bed time pants' as we call them is completely normal... My daughter has been completely dry in the day since 2weeks after her second birthday, I think she's maybe had 4/5 accidents since the day she started potty training... She is now 4. But she still wees during the night. Being dry at night is a developmental thing and it is all to do with a certain hormone. Some people don't get that hormone until later on 🤷🏼‍♀️

I think the crib thing is odd. However, diapers at night maybe it's a good idea cause the child doesn't wake up in time. I think as a parent that'd be better than changing and washing sheets every night. I had bladder problems and wet the bed til I was like 12 💁 it is what it is.

My daughter is 2 and potty trained but I know many many people who have 4 year olds that are just refusing to potty train these days. 
Nappies (or “diapers”) are much more comfortable than they were when we were kids as well. 
I don’t know how they would fit in a cot still my daughter never slept in her cot it’s a glorified washing basket... but if the child is happy it could be a comfort thing 
Unless it’s actually abuse let people parent the way they want to! They know their child and their family circumstances much more than anyone looking in

I read that 2 1/2 to 3 is a good time to transition out of a crib. And about the same for potty training.

My daughter is 2.5 and in a crib. I intend of moving her to s toddler bed at 3.

Personally, I do find that strange. We transitioned our daughter from her crib to a toddler bed shortly after she turned two.
