How do you guys read books to your 4month old??

Mine tries to eat her books...every single time. She gets squirmy if she has nothing to grab or munch on when I read to her. Reading is supposed to help her development skills but I think I’m doing it wrong or something. 😂
I don’t know how some of you are able to read your babies to sleep. Mine sees it as play time lol

Sometimes I let him chew on them, sometimes I just hold my arms straight out in front so he can’t reach the book. Any interaction with books is good interaction! She will figure out how to sit quietly and listen at some point. Until then, keep doing what you’re doing!

We started books as soon as we got home from the hospital, not board or crinkle paper but actual paper books. My 13 month old now is so in love with books that he will chase you around the house with them and scream until you read. I read anywhere from 8-12 books a day to him sometimes more. Dr. Seuss is his favorite! Even if we are not reading he will sit and flip through pages of book after book which is awesome as I can get stuff done!

My son is 3 years old now but we started reading to him when he was a newborn. We would rock him to sleep while reading. What she’s doing is normal. Just keep doing what you’re doing! My son tried to eat some books too and I would just keep reading on. I still rock him to sleep every night and read to him even though he can read independently by himself.

My son is 10.5 months and still thinks books are potential food. I just try to read quickly, lol. If he takes the book from me, I let him play with it for a while but then try to read it again after a few minutes.

Her interacting positive with the books (eating them) is good too!! Just about early introduction. If she does that while you talk to her thats a bonus!

Totally normal! My 3 year old loves to read, we have read to him since a baby and he always chewed on the books haha. We will do the same with our 1 month old. Well really he listens to what I read my oldest son now.

You’re doing it right. Just keep at it and don’t have unrealistic expectations. Exposure to books and her knowing it’s important time with mom and dad is what matters. Consistency is key. Even if she chimps them. LOL.

We use crinkle books during the day and board books at bedtime. She loves to play and make the noise and at bedtime we have the lights low and I’m in the rocking chair.  She lovessss story time and falls asleep shortly after
