7 week old trouble popping?

My breastfed son is still pooping regularly not as much as before but still more than once or twice a day. However for the past few weeks I've realized a few times he gets fussy and seems to be pooping, usually he poops sometimes he doesn't. However he seems to be having some serious issues. It's pretty much the only time he gets fussy. What could this be?

It’s pretty rare for an EBF baby to experience constipation. Breast milk is so easily digested that it leaves very little waste so EBF babies can go a long while without pooping. If your baby is experiencing gas or tummy issues it could be something you’re eating. You can try Mylicon gas drops and see if that helps.￼ Gas drops worked really well for all my breastfed babies.

In my limited experience (one EBF 7.5 month old son), it takes them about 3 months to get used to their digestive systems. It's still all so new and their bodies are getting better and better at absorbing all the stuff they need from the milk so it's all slowing down. For weeks our guy would wake up around 4am sounding like he needed to poop and not much would calm him...then it passed 🤷🏼‍♀️
Best piece of advice I got when I was still pregnant: everything is a phase!
