Suddenly doesn’t want to take paci?

My baby boy has taken a pacifier since the day he was born it was the only thing to get him to sleep or relax... only uses it for sleep and loves it. He’s almost 4 months now and sticks his tongue out when I try to give it to him 😂 sometimes thinks it’s funny too, but he won’t fall asleep unless he takes it (I’ve tried without it) idk if he knows it’ll put him to sleep and that’s why he doesn’t want it or what but it’s so frustrating. Obviously I don’t want him to take it if he doesn’t want or need it but he will NOT fall asleep or self soothe without it. So I have to fight with him for him to take it and when he finally does take it he loves it and relaxes or he falls asleep. Lol anyone know why he’s doing this and either how to get him to not fight with me on it or how to get him to sleep/calm down without it?

Sorry for the long post 😂
