Good evening ladies!

This is a PSA for everyone struggling with the super frustrating diagnosis of unexplained infertility. 👋🏻 hello and welcome to the club

HERE IT GOES:

So hubby & I have been struggling with the beast that is unexplained infertility for 3 years now. Having an unexplained diagnosis is shit because you’re literally going into every expensive ass treatment blind wondering what the hell is going to happen and what the hell should you be doing differently. After all this time we FINALLY have a diagnosis and I want to tell you guys what it is because this could be your diagnosis too!

A little background: I’m 25 my husband is 31. We have never been pregnant before. We recently did our first round of IVF we collected 5 eggs out of 15 follicles 😬 HOWEVER all the eggs looked good and they were all mature plus they all fertilized YAY! Fast forward to our day 3 embabies - 1 is only 2 cell so not lookin too hot but 4 of them were at 6 cell, 7 cell, 8 cell, and 10 cell. All looking great. Fast forward again to day 5 none have become blasts - all have made a little progress but weren’t where they were supposed to be. On day 6 all of our embryos arrested. We were devastated. This is where our diagnosis comes in. All this time we had no idea but we were struggling with a hidden male factor issue. On day 3 those embabies get their dna transcript from the sperm & if that dna is messed up (aka dna fragmentation) then the embryo doesn’t have the proper tools to become a baby! There’s ways around this such as TESE, ICSI/PICSI and the newest most promising tool, Zymōt. DNA fragmentation can be the cause of birth defects, reoccurring miscarriage, and the inability to get pregnant. If you are struggling with any of these things talk to your doctor about having your partner tested for DNA fragmentation. Apparently this is a newer thing in the infertility world that they didn’t know much about before but it plays a huge role in a successful pregnancy. Unfortunately we weren’t offered the test and found out after the fact.

Make sure you advocate for yourself ladies! Baby dust to all 🍍💚
