Dying hair with box color?

I don’t have the funds (nor the the patience to sit for a few hours, haha) currently to get my hair done. I haven’t dyed my hair since before I got pregnant and have avoided it due to what I was reading online about it. I talked to my OB last week about it and he gave me the okay to dye my hair.

Have any of you dyed your hair with store bought hair dye recently? Would you recommend it? I know due to hormones, the color may not come out the way it’s supposed to, but I gotta get rid of these pop up grays! Any of you still concerned about the “dangers” of dying hair? Tell me anything and everything! lol
