My hospital didn't offer it. It makes no sense to me to give this to a newborn, especially if it's known that the mother doesn't have it (I tested negative). Hepb is transmitted through sex or needle sharing, or on very rare occasions, through the mother during childbirth if she has it.

My sons Pediatrician doesn't recommend it. Unless your newborn has the possibility of recieving a blood transfusion in a 3rd world country, is shooting up drugs with dirty needles, having unprotected risky sex, or Mom is positive there is no way to be exposed to Hep B. My son will receive it before he is sexually active.
