Hi CC - it’s been a while, but I have an interesting dilemma for the people. Hopefully folks are here today to respond.

This is a classic “what would you do?” question and here it goes...

Real story.

My husband’s buddy from college is now a very accomplished fashion and portrait photographer. Her work is incredible. She’s so nice. I know her too, but they had photog classes together in undergrad. For the 2nd time in a row, she’s offered to take our babies’ first bday pics for free. Such a blessing. So generous of her. The pics were incredible each time.

SO at the end photo session this time around, my husband asks if we can have a copy of her “book.” Her reaction was timid at first. I know she posts tasteful nudes of herself on Instagram; so I reassured her that we love art and didn’t mind if there was nudity here and there. With my approval, she sent the book.

Cut to - we receive the book. Idk why, but something in my soul said “check this out before your husband does.” I tell him I need to look at it first and when I do, I see.... her vagina. Over and over and over again. Some photos are hairy, some shaved, some soaped, some where I wonder how she even captured such angles, some adjacent to her immaculate anus. In short, this is an art photography book of close ups of her vagina.

I knew this was a book of “self portraits,” and I thought there could be a little vag, but this is all vag, some boobs, nips, up close pics of her “Oh face” etc. Is she pretty? Yes. Is that a factor in my discomfort with the contents of her book? No.

So here’s my question - what would you do?

No, I’m not asking what you think I should do. I’m asking, in your home, what would you do with the book? What would you say to her (if anything)?

I’m super curious to hear how people’s reactions will vary.

Again, to be crystal clear, this material is ART and not pornography (at least that’s the lens that I’m viewing it in).
