WERE MARRIED
02.23.2020 💍
UPDATE:
We are so blessed and grateful for all the support that you all have given us! I never expected this post to blow up this much! All the kind words and words of wisdom are really appreciate. Thank you to everyone who took time out of their day to show us love and support. I’d like to address the biggest question I’ve been seeing. “Why didn’t anyone show up?” Ok for starters the wedding was last minute notice. I gave my family like a two- three day notice and that’s why some of them didn’t come because they couldn’t “prepare themselves”. I’ve seen this one mentioned a lot in the comments. Race is a big issue as well. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been told that I need to stay with my race because “white men like to own their black woman” or “he’s only with you to prove a point to his family” the list of terrible things that were put into my head are endless. Also, some people said they didn’t show up because we’re to young and we still have growing to do. That it won’t last... like their are multiple reasons. Not just race. However we have been married for a week and three days now and we couldn’t be happier. I’ve stopped talking to my family and friends because as much as I try to act as if it didn’t hurt my feelings it did. Especially the fact that my mom is alive and well and missed a very important day in my life. I’ll eventually be able to talk to them again I just need time. I come from a generation where they believe the man should be taking care of the woman and the woman should just sit at home and take care of the house. I’m am 24 with no kids and I’m in great health! I have NO REASON not to be able to work and take care of myself. My family is just very different and I’ve let a lot of their opinions influence my relationship and since I’ve stopped talking to them my husband and I have been doing wonderful! Thanks again everyone for your support! I’m in North Carolina. Anyone else live in this area? We could really use to friends!
UPDATE #2:
After one month of marriage we are finally having our first child together. Ttc for 2 and a half years. I didn’t believe it! I took 14 tests 😂 Hubby has already bought a crib 😂
