Anxiety in pregnancy

I have had an anxiety and panic disorder for more than 10 years.

I struggled off and on, tried therapy, pills, and even cannabis.

The only thing that helped was cognitive behavioural therapy, cutting out sugar and caffeine from my diet. And for emergency panic attacks, Xanax. (Maybe once every 2 months)

I was doing so well that my husband and I decided to finally start trying for a baby! We had been putting it off because of finances and my anxiety for years.

Well it happened way faster than I thought it would! We got pregnant the very first month trying!

I feel like I barely had enough time to get excited about trying before we actually got pregnant!

I am so excited and happy for this baby, but my anxiety has come back pretty bad!

I’m sure it’s a combination of hormones as well as worrying about everything that can go wrong.

I can’t take medication, my body reacts terribly to them (I’ve tried 5 different pills in the past) and I know Xanax is not safe during pregnancy.

What are some ways I can stay calm and lower my anxiety during pregnancy?

I know stressing is not good for the baby, which makes me stress more!
