Did he cheat? My partner has cold sores on lips after getting sick

So my partner got really sick this week. He had a fever, chills, runny nose, and a sore throat and after the third day of him being sick he started getting cold sores on his lips that look nasty 😣 anyways does this mean he has herpes and can pass it to me if he ever goes down on me or kisses me? This is the first time he’s had this 🙁

The majority of the population has herpes simplex virus.  Old sores are very common and no it does not mean he cheated. Just dont kiss while he has them on his lips and you'll be fine
 But there is a high probability you also have it considering 80+ % of the population does.

I definitely wouldn't think he cheated. It gets passed around so easily that he could of had it for decades and just went a long time in between a break out so you never noticed
It can even be passed to a baby from Mom/dad kissing them. For all you know, he's had it the majority of his life. Just don't kiss/do oral/ect during his outbreak

I definitely didn’t cheat and broke out for the first time bc of stress from work. The majority of the worlds population has the virus that causes them.. the fact that he was just sick could very well be what helped trigger an outbreak and helped cause them.

There is no way to tell when he got it or from who. It could be dormant for years and years. He can take an antiviral to reduce the risk of giving it to you if you havent caught it yet from him or from someone else.

Cold sores can pop up due to your immune system being lowered due to being sick, also stress, wind and too much sun causes them as well, doesn't mean he cheated he could've had the herpes virus his whole life. But yes don't kiss or let him go down on you while they are still present.

I get cold sores. I used to get them all the time in high school. Then I didn’t get one for 5 years and then one popped up like 3 weeks ago. HSV can lie dormant for a loooooong time and is only transferred when active. So don’t kiss him while he’s sick, but also you don’t need to be a dick about it.
