How long did it take for you to get a proper autoimmune diagnosis?

I have been feeling totally crap.. variety of symptoms. Went to the doctor and got a positive ANA test and signs of inflammation. 
I have a specialist appointment in two months.. it’s the earliest I could get in. 
I had someone tell me it takes on average 3.5 years and several doctors for most people to get a proper diagnosis on an autoimmune disease.
I’ve been feeling so stressed about this because I just want answers and to feel better.
I’m wondering how long it took for you? 
What were your earlier signs and diagnosis?

I have Hashimotos, which is the main cause of Hypothyroidism in the USA. I have subclinical hypothyroidism. 
They actually found it on a yearly check up and then a follow up. So like 3 months total from suspicion to confirmation. 
BUT mine is very mild and I feel fine. So I wasn't out looking for causes of anything. And of course thyroid stuff is pretty easy to check because there are numbers you can check for through blood tests.

It actually took a whole year for my diagnosis after waiting almost a year for my first appt with a specialist. I legit did every single test possible and after the last test I was finally diagnosed in August 2019. I’m his defense he didn’t specialize in IBD’s and I’m finally with an IBD specialist but yeah. It took quite awhile. It felt like forever. 
Just 2 weeks I finally started a medication as the one I tried in August I ended up being allergic to 🙃

I had ITP and was diagnosed immediately due to being hospitalized the same day my blood was checked because my counts were that emergent. I saw a specialist every week for 8 months trying to get my condition under control. When we found what worked (organ removal) my appointments spaced out more. It was probably about 3 or so months after my first blood test that I was classified as chronic and not gestational (all came on during pregnancy but then didn’t get better after delivery).

3.5 years? I have type 1 and was extremely sick for three weeks (lost 10 pounds, extreme thirst, frequent urination - amongst other symptoms). Completed several rounds of blood tests and was told to go to the ER a few days after results and was diagnosed.
